DAVE School Graduate Michael Cliett Wins Emmy for Outstanding Visual Effects on FX’s Shogun

The DAVE School community is celebrating an extraordinary achievement! Our graduate, Michael Cliett, has taken home his first Primetime Emmy Award for his incredible work as the Overall Visual Effects Supervisor on FX’s Shogun. Announced during 2024’s ceremony, this prestigious win is a career-defining moment for Michael, who has now been nominated five times in total.

FX’s Shogun made waves this year, breaking records with an astounding 14 Emmy Award wins, including the coveted Outstanding Special Visual Effects in a Season or a Movie. Michael’s leadership in visual effects played a pivotal role in bringing the series’ epic narrative to life, delivering stunning visuals that wowed both audiences and critics alike.

Reflecting on his journey from a DAVE School student to an Emmy Award-winning supervisor, Michael’s accomplishment inspires current students and demonstrates how hard work, passion, and dedication to the craft can lead to the pinnacle of industry recognition.

Visual Effects Production Diploma Program

The Visual Effects Production program gives students a broad range of skills that allow them to pursue jobs in the computer graphics industry, including feature film and television effects, game art, print advertising, architectural visualization, and military simulation.

The DAVE School was founded on June 8, 2000, by two Industry executives looking to create #CareerReady artists with a practical animation school. Today, The DAVE School offers specialized training in Visual Effects and Game Production with extensive practice under industry-level supervision.

Located on the backlot of Universal Studios Florida®, The DAVE School has an 18,000 square foot facility that includes learning and interactive labs, a dedicated Virtual and Real-Time production stage, a Vicon motion capture system, 3D printing, and VR/AR labs, and secure student access 7 days a week.
